Talent Marketplace – a good or bad term?

I was recently faced with a conundrum. Was I really comfortable with using the term ‘talent marketplace’ in our inkscroll sales material? Turns out I’m not.

For me, the term conjures up an image of people in a town square; some people on a raised platform being looked at closely, other people looking on with a bag of coins ready to make a purchase. Unfortunately that reminds me of something else… slave markets. I wonder if this resonates with any readers?

Needless to say, we will not be using this term though it’s becoming popular terminology in the HR space. What I am comfortable in saying is that:

inkscroll is a Talent Platform in the broad sector of HR Tech, strengthening the symbiotic relationship between individuals and Employers – past, present and future.

We provide Employers with a self-service tool to support their direct talent sourcing needs by quickly surfacing top candidates for them while supporting individuals with their career journey and next job search.

Thinking about it though, the chances of someone else calling us ‘that term which shall not be mentioned again by us’ is quite high. 🙂
